500mbps over copper wiring

Fibre optics is the future but legacy copper wiring may have some life yet.

Good news for those in remote places where the wiring is still stuck in the 20th century. More bandwidth means websites with more interactive elements and animated content.
I can actually count up to ten in Japanese but I didn't catch any numbers... Looks good though. Expect lots low cost, internet ready screen readers and net devices to start showing up in the shops in the final quarter of 09 and into 2010.
